COFEPOW Scotland Newsletter November 2020
Jackie is Area Co-ordinator for Scotland, an area so large it has its own challenges, which keeps her busy. Over the last year, she has organised lunch meetings and sent out her own newsletter which help keep members in touch and advertises special FEPOW events that may be happening in Scotland.
Several Scottish members have now visited Liverpool’s ‘Secret Art of Survival’ exhibition and been encouraged to visit the Glasgow City Life Archive based in the Mitchell Library, Glasgow, to see the extraordinary illustrated diaries of John Clement.
Another exhibition opens at the Gordon Highlanders Museum, Aberdeen, 31st March-28th November, where 13 newly discovered oil sketches by Eric Auld will be on show and hopefully more information about the artist Herbert Elsey, a Yorkshireman who enlisted with the Gordon Highlanders and served in the Far-East. The recent lunch in Glasgow was most enjoyable – excellent company and a delicious meal. Jackie looks forward to organising more lunches around Scotland, welcomes ideas and suggestions, and particularly looks forward to hearing from and meeting new COFEPOW members.
