East Anglian writer and actor, Greg Powles, is urgently looking for the help of COFEPOW members. He is currently creating a new play based on the affects of the FEPOWs’ return home after release, and how family life was impacted by their experiences in subsequent years.
East Coast Sunrise CIC Director, Greg Powles, is a writer and performer, based outside Lowestoft in Suffolk. His maternal grandfather, Donald Maitland, served in the 6th Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment during the war and spent three years in Japanese captivity.
Greg is currently running an Arts Council-funded project to develop a play based on the experiences of soldiers, and, in particular, on the difficulties they faced on their return home, especially within their families and communities. He intends to tie the stories into on-going conflicts around the world and how little has changed in the past 80 years.
Greg now wishes to collect as many relevant stories and reminiscences as possible, and invites COFEPOW members to contact him. After attending COFEPOW group meetings in Norwich, he would now like to extend the search to obtain as wide a variety of information as possible.
Anyone who had relatives who were affected and are willing to share their stories as part of this project, please contact Greg Powles, telephone 07766 398244 or email at: greg.powles@outlook.com
Thank you for your help.
