We’re excited to share that one of our dedicated members, Christine Lindgren, has taken the initiative to reach out to the Marchwiel Community Council to discuss a potential commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day in 2025.
After Christine’s inquiry, the council responded positively and has agreed to add both VE and VJ Day commemorations to an upcoming agenda. Plans are in early stages, with suggestions to involve local groups, including schools and community organisations, to make this a meaningful community-wide event.
Christine has been invited to join the council’s upcoming meetings, where she will represent COFEPOW and emphasise the importance of honouring those who endured unimaginable hardship as Far East Prisoners of War. We’re grateful for her advocacy and commitment, and we look forward to seeing what the Marchwiel community comes together to create.
