Trip to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand with a request for help to find a cemetery near Pudu Prison in Malaysia and an offer take photos from David Sartin
On 5th February David and Ray Withnall will be leaving for a 3 week trip visiting Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. They intend visiting the Singapore Memorial, Tanjong Balai (if they can find and access it), Pudu Prison, Kuala Lumpur and Frasers Hill, Tanjong Malim and Raub. Then on into Thailand where they will be going to Ubon via Kanchanaburi and Hell fire pass. They have 3 days in Singapore, 3 or 4 days around Kuala Lumpur area and a couple of days at Ubon. David’s father was a Royal Engineer and with SOE, their aim is to basically follow his fathers’ journey from Singapore through Malaya and eventually to Ubon. They are trying to obtain some poppy crosses to lay at various sites. If anyone would like them to take photos of any site in particular, please contact David via email and, if possible, they will do their best to accommodate the request. They are also trying to locate a cemetery near Pudu Prison, where 8 escapers including Lieutenants Bill Harvey, Frank Vanrennen and 6 others were murdered by the Japanese. They would like to find the cemetery in question to pay their respects and hopefully lay a poppy cross.
If any member can assist in the location of this cemetery could they please contact David by email ASAP on david.sartin1815@gmail.com
